Recent Release – February 2017 State of Victoria’s Children Report 2015. The annual State of Victoria’s Children reports provide insights into key issues for Victorian children, young people and their families. The 2015 report contrasts the risk and protective factors in the lives of children and young people, and the impact these factors can have on later outcomes, focusing on: · Lifelong learning and success. · Safe and healthy children. · Strong families and confident parents. The report presents an evidence base on how Victoria’s children and young people are faring, bringing together a breadth of data and evidence from across the Victorian Government and a number of other sources. It also includes information on the usage of supports and services for vulnerable children and families. The report demonstrates that the majority of young Victorians are faring well. However, others face significant challenges, many relating to disadvantage, that tip the scales against good health, wellbeing and achievement. The report provides context for key government reforms including the Education State agenda, the Roadmap for Reform, the 10-Year Mental Health Plan, the Marrung: Aboriginal Education Plan 2016-2026 and the Government’s response to the Royal Commission into Family Violence.
