All boats rise in a safe harbour: Partnering to Make a difference More than 50 people from across the Buloke, Loddon and Northern Grampians Shires attended the North Central LLEN’s 2020 Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in the beautiful outdoor courtyard area of the Bridgewater Hotel last week. The theme for the evening was “All Boats rise in a safe harbour” and focussed on the work of the LLEN to support children and young people to thrive in education, work and life. Read more... |

The North Central LLEN in partnership with Buloke Shire Council has launched a series of inspirational videos promoting employment opportunities across the Buloke Shire featuring real life experiences of young people, as well as insights from their employers.
This follows the release of a report on 'Workforce Development and Training Needs’ by the Nous Group in 2019 which showed that labour shortages in key industry sectors such as Agriculture, Community Services, Rural Services, Hospitality & Tourism, and Manufacturing were preventing the Shire from reaching its full potential. Gannawarra Shire Council, together with Northern District Community Health (NDCH) and the North Central LLEN, are key to a collaboration seeking to identify ways to reduce disadvantage for young people aged 9 to 19 across Loddon, Buloke and Gannawarra Shires over the next 12 months.
Strong Youth Strong Communities (SYSC) will focus on the creation of a framework and model for a ‘place based’ youth support system. Read more... |
A new project led by the North Central LLEN will take a collaborative approach to reducing youth unemployment in the Loddon Campaspe region over the next three years.
Funded through the Kirkland Lake Gold Community Partnership Program the Youth Pathways Facilitator project will address the problems young people face entering the labour market after leaving school, particularly in a post Covid-19 environment. A partnership between the North Central (project lead), Goldfields, Central Ranges, and Campaspe Cohuna LLENs, the project will work across the Loddon Campaspe region to bring together people and resources to effectively address the significant challenges faced by some young people transitioning from school to work in our local economies. The North Central LLEN has appointed Pam McConville to the position of Pathways Coordinator to work alongside its dedicated Careers and Pathways team creating opportunities for children and young people to thrive in education, work and life.
Pam has more than 30 years of experience in education in various settings – the prison system, special schools, primary schools, and high schools, as well as raising four children of her own. For the last eight years she has also been providing counselling and wellbeing support to students at Donald High School in addition to her teaching role. |

16 October - NEW North Central Youth Advisory Council
The North Central LLEN (NCLLEN) is looking for energetic, self-motivated young people between the ages of 15 and 21 who live, work or study within the Buloke Shire Council, Loddon Shire Council and St Arnaud in the Northern Grampians Shire Council to join the inaugural North Central Youth Advisory Committee. The Committee will include up to 24 local young people (for an initial 12 month period) who are passionate about many different areas of community life to represent the views and interests of their peers, and to provide the opportunity to build positive connections with each other and the wider community. |
