Building the quality and currency of agricultural programs and industry partnerships
The North Central LLEN’s project 21st Century Pathways to Careers in Agriculture, funded through the Secondary Schools Agriculture Fund (2023-2024), made a large contribution to building the quality and currency of agricultural programs and industry partnerships across the North Central region.
Ongoing programs:

Birchip Cropping Group partnership for a student stream at their main field days.

Nutrien Scholarship Award and Network Day for a nominated Year 11 student from each of our North Central Cluster Schools.

Partnerships in Ag - Birchip Cropping Group
To ensure that the NCLLEN Agricultural Project was embedded in the community and formed connections that are ongoing and sustainable, we formed a partnership with the Birchip Cropping Group. Broadacre cropping is a key agricultural industry in our region and the work of the Birchip Cropping Group showcases the diverse elements of careers in agriculture.
Over the last four years, NCLLEN has facilitated over 200 students to attend BCG's flagship event, their Main Field Day. It is a hands-on day, where students get to listen to a careers panel, dig out trials and interact with BCG staff and local farmers.
Partnerships in Ag - Nutrien Ag
An exciting initiative has seen the North Central LLEN partner with Nutrien AG Solutions to support a scholarship for a senior student in each of our nine cluster schools who has shown passion and achievement in subjects that may lead to a career in agriculture.
In addition to a $150 gift voucher, recipients were hosted by Nutrien Ag Solutions at their Boort Office at the end of February each year for a networking and careers immersion day.

Partnerships in Ag - Charles Sturt University
North Central LLEN recently took a group of North Central students to the Charles Sturt University Open Day in Wagga Wagga, offering a hands on glimpse into university and agricultural career pathways.
Students explored a wide range of activities, from experiencing uni life firsthand to diving into ag focussed sessions. They gained valuable insights into course options, experimented with practical activities, and discovered emerging technologies in ag, including robotics and drone applications. Conversations with current students also gave them a real feel for study, social life, and living away from home.
The day began at Elders Wycheproof where students learnt about career pathways and opportunities within the organisation, before heading off to CSU for the Explore Day.
