Pyramid Hill students bring house pride to life through banner designs

Pyramid Hill College students have been working with Heath from Wizartry Signs to design new banners for their sporting houses, Terrick and Loddon.

This project is part of a project called Passions and Pathways, is facilitated by North Central LLEN, in partnership with Goldfields LLEN. Passions & Pathways is an upper primary career related learning program aligned to the Victorian Curriculum and the Australian Blueprint for Career Development. Through regular weekly lessons, delivered over 10 weeks, activities, events, incursions and excursions they have met many business people, held meaningful conversations, and real-world learning experiences, students have gained a deeper understanding of the many opportunities available to them

Students explored the local flora and fauna with guest speakers before learning from Heath about the design considerations involved in creating their banners. Students each designed the banners with the final version presented to the school principal for sign off before Wizartry signs turned their designs into the amazing banners you can see in the group photo below.

The program concluded at the end of term 3 with an Expo held at the Bendigo Library. Over 500 students from the region have participated in Passions and Pathways and each students’ avatar describing their strengths and interests was put on display.

Additionally, each school was allocated a space to showcase their entrepreneurial project. Students and staff spent time exploring and engaging with the other school displays. Pyramid Hill College Year 5/6’s featured the eye-catching flags designed by the students for the two houses – Loddon and Terrick. Thanks to Tia and Max, there was a display of the different fauna and flora of Loddon and Terrick. The display also featured some free native seeds to give away. The PHC exhibition proved to be an extremely popular stopping point with the large crowd.

We are tremendously grateful to our industry partners for this project – Wizartry Signs. Heath Emmerson and his staff were so positive and helpful during this project. We really appreciate the time they put into engaging with the students and completing the project.

It was incredible to see students working with industry, also the pride they had at the Expo showing other students and members of the public their new product.
